Central European Sheepdog Conference
We hope to offer a chance to reappraise key questions after shifts over the last two decades within the field as this Call for Papers provides details of the scope.
Further details on registration and local arrangements will be provided at the time we announce the preliminary schedule on Feb 1, 2018. We invite papers that explore the challenges of preservation of the sheepdog breeds, concern their authentic environmental needs and challenges, discover their social positioning in the modern times, such as breeding expectations and issues. Hungarian Sheepdog breeds are highlighted with first priority. Papers may investigate case studies in specific visual and material culture topics, origin of the breeds, their linkage, genetic resources, jobs and functionality, wild life preservation, natural capital policies & sheepdog services, culture as the fountain of the sheepdog image in history, etc. or take a broader comparative approach. We are particularly interested in having a geographic range of topics represented in the material shared at this conference in order to explore possible themes such as domestication vs evolution, genetic preservation and biodiversity, sheepdog characteristics vs modern social needs, cultural heritage.
Deadline for academic papers: Oct 23, 2017.
Resume should be maximised in 300 words.
